Vida legally enters a bar. He had a bad day because his mother just died. Vida, this morning, heard the reading of his mother’s will and discovered he inherited his mother’s undeveloped plot of land located in Newport. Upon visiting the property a few months ago he realized the value of the property was over $1 million. However, he never liked going to the coast and wondered why his mother ever bought the lot to begin with.

Feeling sad he sat up to the bar and entered into a conversation with a heavily inebriated man named Hunter. Immediately Vida came to like Hunter and agreed, on the spot, to sell the inherited property to Hunter for $200,000 and scribbled their agreement on a cocktail napkin. Vida left the bar, thrilled to have sold the property, without even having a drink and pleased that this jurisdiction did not require notarization for any contracts – he did not want any details to come between himself and the money.

Soon, Vida was experiencing regret about the sale. It was his mother’s dream to own property near the ocean. When Hunter came to Vida’s home the next day with money in hand and to receive title to the property, Vida refused. Hunter sues Vida in court. Would Hunter succeed?
