  • The Project carries 25% (100) of course marks:

o   Presentation  – (20) 5%

o   Report  – (80) 20%

DUE DATE ·         The due date for submitting both the presentation and the report is May  18, 2017 (Thursday- Week 14)

  • Presentations will be scheduled in week 15. Each group will have 15 minutes only to present.

·         5% from overall mark will be deducted per each day of late submission.

PROJECT FORMAT ·                The cover page should carry the following: –

o           Name of the University College

o           Program title

o           Subject code and title

o           Name of lecturer

o           Name and ID of every member of your group

o           Date of submission

 

·                You are required to follow the given format:

o           Edited for typos and grammatical errors

PROJECT MODE Group work (6-7 students).

Project description

 

Working in a group of 6-7 students, select and analyze a local company’s operation management. As an operation manager you are required to select either the company’s process design OR layout strategy .Then, recommend solutions for any problem that this company is facing OR suggest improvements that can enhance the company’s performance based on OM concepts. You only need to choose one process OR one layout in one department in the company. Six main operation management topics will be covered:

  1. Operation Management
  2. Operation Strategy
  3. Quality Management
  4. Process Design
  5. Layout Decisions
  6. Inventory Management

 

Project Objectives

 

The objectives of this project are the following:

  • An overview of operations management and operations strategy
  • A process view of the firm and tools for analyzing processes
  • A study how the manager can improve the efficiency of processes
  • Expected outcomes for the future impact.
  • Narrative learning experiences
  • To establish proper research understanding and proper referencing style.
  • To develop students’ analytical, and presentation skills.
