? The sources are mainly cited accurately with full references in correct order above each annotation.

A performance at this level is marked by one or more of the following:
? The introduction is weak or too brief and the focus is unclear or absent. There are no in-text references.
? There may be less than five sources and these have been selected mainly from the internet.
? The sources selected do not all relate to a focus or purpose specified in the introduction.
? There are inaccuracies in citation: references are not listed in full or not in correct order above each annotation.
? Ideas are summarised but may not relate to the essay with no attempt to explain how the source will be used.
? There is no evaluation or comparison of the sources and no indication of the writer’s viewpoint.
? Parts of the annotation may be plagiarised and those parts in the writer’s own words contain many basic errors.
A performance at this level is seriously flawed by one or more of the following weaknesses:
? There is no introduction so the topic is unclear.
? Less than five sources have been selected and many of these are from inappropriate websites.
? The sources selected seem unrelated to each other or to a focused topic.
? There are many inaccuracies in the listing and ordering of references.
? The summaries consist of general opinions with no indication of how the sources will be used in the essay
? The annotations are clearly plagiarized from sources or the writing contains many errors so meaning is obscured.
