Chemistry
Task 1
Produce spider diagrams showing the interconversion of one functional group into another. Only include the following organic compounds: haloalkanes, Alcohols. Aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, amines and amides. Mark every step with a reference number or letter. Then give written commentary on each off the steps explaining what is happening in each reaction.
Task 2
State why the following substitution and elimination reactions can be classified as either unimolecular or bimolecular.
1- The reaction of bromoethane and ammonia(substitution)
2- The reaction of 2-bromoprpane with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide( substitution)
3- The reaction of 2-bromopropane with an ethanolic solution of potassium hydroxide (elimination)
4- The hydrolysis of 1-bromopropane ( substitution)
5- The hydrolysis of 2-methylpropan-2-ol (substitution)
6- The reaction of 2-bromo-3-methylbutane with sodium ethoxide (elimination)
7- The reaction of 3-bromo-3-ethylpentane and ethanol ( elimination)
