Students will choose a topic of interest within the area of child abuse/neglect and submit it for approval no later than June 30, 2014. If you do not select a topic by June 30, 2014, one will be assigned by the instructor. Duplicate topics will not be accepted. The paper will be 5-7 pages in length and will account for 25% of the final grade. You must utilize no less than 5 professional sources to support your research paper. The paper will be 5-7 pages in length excluding a title page, bibliography. The paper must be double spaces, 12 point font, and standard margins. Proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation are required. Sources should be cited using APA format. All in-text citations should match a bibliographic entry.
The paper should describe the following: Why is the topic important for victims of child abuse? What are the underlying aspects associated with this problem area? Are there historical facts that would help us better understand this problem area? Are there laws that prevent/hinder this problem? What does this problem impact? What kinds of research have been conducted to help us understand this problem? What suggestions have researchers proposed and have they been implemented or evaluated? You are not limited to these questions. However, do not simply submit a general review of facts. A critical analysis regarding answers to these types of questions is expected.
