Question 1

Mandatory reporting is a term used to describe the legislative requirement imposed on selected classes of people to report suspected cases of harm and neglect to government authorities. Parliaments in all Australian states and territories have enacted mandatory reporting laws of some description.
When a situation is identified, it is your duty of care to act upon it immediately and must be reported to protect the people at risk.
The role of the worker is
• That no harm comes to any individual under your care
• Advocate for the people at risk
• Report to the department of human services and document detail information being specific such as what did you see what did you here, any witnesses.
• Contact the appropriate departments needed such as housing counselling, meeting immediate needs such as medical needs, clothing, food.
