Social Media can be used by officers to communicate nationwide about concerning topics with the community. Social media can be harmful since personal information of the officer can be published. Facebook and Twitter to create a great channel of communication with the community members. Social Media can be helpful to recruit young officers. Suspect contacts, witness interviews, foot pursuits, citizen complaints, angry sergeants, and continuous report writing are day-to-day actions for a patrol officer who knows that the method is anything but routine. Bad comments or the use of profanity can lead to an internal affairs investigation. Can help detectives to solve cold cases. Considerable problems can occur, with the greatest warning implying the personal threat to officers and their families. With cell phones Internet access and a law enforcement officer’s name, an antagonistic traffic violator could have a satellite picture of the officer’s home represented on the phone by the time the officer returns to issue the citation. The department can provide continuous training on current issues, the hazards of social media, and self-protection is essential. The credential can be hacked.
