Note: If you are working on a comic or cartoon, they need to include at least 6 scenes.

If you are working on a graphic novel, it has to include at least 3 pages

Elements of your project:

In addition to your project, you need to develop a 1-2 pages individual reflection explaining how the cartoon/comic/graphic novel you created embodies the principles and elements of media literacy; and how you can use it in the classroom to support learning. You need to address the following:

 Title of your comic/cartoon/graphic novel

 Your target audience and grade level.

 The instructional design process you followed to develop the assignment

 The lesson you are trying to teach

 How your project can be used for teaching or supporting a classroom lesson, and the importance of using comics/cartoons/graphic novels in the classroom.

 The principles and elements of visual/media literacy and/or Mayer’s multimedia principles that you employed for the assignment.

 Your own definition of comics, cartoons, and graphic novels, the differences between them and their unique educational affordances.

After you finish your project, you will upload your project and individual reflection into your wiki in the proper section. Include a link to your project in the “My comic/cartoon/graphic novel” forum in CourseDen so your peers can view it. Even if you are working with a partner, both have to individually post your own URL.
