Over the past 7 weeks, you learned about the importance of leadership, leadership theories, and leadership practices. It is time to
pull out your weekly journals to develop your Personal Leadership Profile (PLP). This will be a reflective, living document you will
continue to build upon throughout the program.
Using your journals as a foundation, construct your PLP to reflect on how resources and assignments affected and extended your
learning and understanding of the issues, concepts, and processes in this course. How has the content of the course changed your
ideas, behaviors, or opinions about leadership (i.e., changes in perspective, leadership style, Emotional Intelligence,
communications, priorities, processes)? Through course resources, did you discover or learn a different perspective or an idea(s)
that built on existing knowledge? Be sure your PLP includes the following sections:
Leadership Strengths
Challenges and Opportunities for Development
Leadership Goals and Plans
At least three additional sections to organize the following criteria you also need to address:
Personal leadership style and leadership philosophy
Applicability of leadership theories for organizational health
Importance of diversity
Leadership challenges (every person has many– not just one)
Developmental goals (at least three)
Short and long-term actions to achieve your development goals (at least three for each)
Lessons learned
Support your PLP with a minimum of five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly
resources, including older articles, may be included.
Length: 10-12 pages, not including title and reference pages
Your submission should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new
thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards
where appropriate.
