Bogdanov, RF Circuit Design: Theory and Applications, 2nd Edition, Pearson Education, NJ,
2009.
Reading: Ludwig & Bogdanov, Sections 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5.
Problem 5.9 from Ludwig & Bogdanov plus the extra problems below.
Problem 5-1:
Design a 0.5 dB ripple Chebyshev bandpass filter with a lower passband edge frequency of
1.9 GHz, an upper passband edge frequency of 2.0 GHz and at least 30 dB of attenuation at
1.8 GHz and 2.1 GHz. The filter is to have terminating impedances of 50 Ω. Calculate the values
of all inductors and capacitors, and calculate the |s21| in dB using ADS.
Problem 5-2:
Design a 0.5 dB ripple Chebyshev commensurate line filter with a cut-off frequency of 12.5 GHz
and at least 30 dB of attenuation at 16 GHz. The terminating impedances are 50 Ω.
Only open-circuit terminated stubs and unit elements are to be used. Calculate the characteristic
impedance and electrical length of each transmission line element and simulate the |s21 in dB
