Structure of the assignment:
1. Brief literature review (to establish main concepts and views) (1000 words):
• Early approach to language processing (Behaviourism)
• 1950s – Information Processing Approach
• Two main theories form the basis of the Information Processing Approach – Bottom-up processing and Top-down processing
• Autonomous and Interactive views on language processing connected to the above theories
• Models of Speech Processing (Cohort and TRACE) and their connection to the above.
• Role of context in each model
• Experiments which helped to research the above (shadowing experiments, gating experiments, phoneme restoration effect experiment etc.)
