One approach to evaluating effectiveness is to look at the satisfaction of stakeholders. To get a sense of how a particular nonprofit is likely to be viewed by its stakeholders 1. Pick a nonprofit organization and review its mission. List five stakeholders (individuals, organizations, or institutions) that are likely to influence or be influenced by the nonprofit. Be sure to include at least one internal and one external stakeholder. 2. Create a table with the columns shown in Table 2.1 and as many rows as you need, and fill it out for each stakeholder on your list of stakeholders. TABLE 2.1. STAKEHOLDER’S VIEW OF THE NONPROFIT 3. Now, place each stakeholder into a simple stakeholder map like the one shown in Figure 2.1, showing your designation for that stakeholder (keep satisfied, monitor, keep informed, or key player). 4. Discuss the weaknesses of your analysis and the potential value of a more comprehensive stakeholder audit for a nonprofit.
