This essay should be a historio-graphic research paper. It should discuss Pol Pot of the Khmer Rouge Regime in Cambodia and his major communist influences that inspired him to make socialism a reality in Cambodia. The essay should first discuss Pol Pot’s background and his education abroad in France as well as his work with various organizations and student groups there. I will be including an attached essay that will have a lot of this background information that can be used. In this introductory background section French colonialism in Cambodia should also be discussed in detail. The paper should discuss in some detail what the Khmer Rouge were responsible for- eradicating 1.7-2.2 million people (25% of Cambodia’s population at the time).
The thesis of the essay will be that Pol Pot was inspired to carry out the atrocities he did by influence of several communist models as well as the US bombing of Cambodia. The main arguments should be:
