Police Organization and Management

Instructions

Different organization and management barriers pose challenges to police organizations (including police officers).
This paper requires selection of a scholarly journal article (not a book, book chapter, newspaper or magazine articles, trade or

professional article, report, dissertation or other article source) that discusses at length about a specific management & organizational

barrier. Please find the article from Library databases with assistance from the instructor and librarians. Students will need to provide

full citation information at the end of the paper and cite in each instance in the body of your paper. Twelve (12) points will be

allocated for the source itself (8 points) and proper citations, spelling, grammar, and clarity and organization of the paper (4 points).

The paper must be in written prose with complete sentences that are connected to each other and with proper transitions. Use quotes at

minimum and the paper should be in your own words. No bulleting or shorthand is permitted.

The barrier that has to be identified must be significant and not a minor one. Explain and detail the barrier that is discussed in the

article (what do the author(s) argue makes this a management or organizational barrier). This should be about ½ to 1 double-spaced pages.

Transition to the next section on how this barrier impacts democratic and effective crime prevention (in its inclusive senses, for example

all types of prevention or the prevention of criminality as we have been talking about in class). This second section should explain for

readers how this barrier impacts democratic or effective crime prevention as you identify for them. This should be ½ to 1 double-spaced
