Question: Socialization and Group Processes

The researches on socialization and the researches on group processes seemingly occupy the opposite ends of the spectrum. Socialization emphasizes how people’s

behaviors are affected by their socialization, whereas group processes tends to assume that people will behave in the similar fashions if they are put in the similar

situations.

One of the ways to reconcile this difference is that one’s behavior is not only affected by the situation s/he is in, but also his/her socialization. Choose one of

the core ideas from the slide on group processes – cooperation/prisoner’s dilemma, trust, reciprocity, conformity, status – and suggest a way in which different

socialization can make people behave differently under the same situation. Explain your example. Explain how your example can enhance the sociological understanding of

the core idea of your choice.
