Strategic Management Reflective Piece

Reflective Piece – Record and reflect on your development as a strategist over the
course of the semester.

Each individual is to write a reflective essay that demonstrates a significant personal
insight into your development as a strategist. Your reflective essay needs to
demonstrate an active engagement with both theory and your personal experience
and it must demonstrate how exposure to the strategic management theory has (or
has not) changed the way you think/act and what, if any plans you have to build on
this in the future.

Specifically we are interested in understanding:

• How the strategic management discipline can help you to understand your life
experience in new ways .

o Have you found the strategic management discipline helpful in
understanding your interactions with businesses?

• Whether you are able to identify connections between the strategic
management discipline and other academic disciplines that you have studies
in your program.

o If you found connections, in what way are they meaningful?

• How you are able to take the strategic management discipline that you have
learned in the classroom environment this semester and transfer it to other
contexts.

o We’ve focused on one business in one industry. How might you apply
what you’ve learned in this course to other
businesses/industries/contexts?

• How you anticipate using what you have learned in strategic management in
the future.

o Do you see the strategic management discipline as a useful way to
help you to make better decisions?

• Your ability to write clearly, succinctly and professionally.

o Structure, spelling and grammar matter.

connections between your personal experience and the strategic management
discipline and how well you are able to connect the strategic management discipline
to the other disciplines that you have studied in your university career.
