The benefits of situational crime prevention

The benefits of situational crime prevention are well documented. Drawing on the crime prevention literature and theories, critically explain why situational crime prevention may not be able to fully address a community’s crime problems.

In developing your response there are number of themes and issues that you could consider. For example, what are the benefits of situational crime prevention? What makes these benefits so apparent? What are the disadvantages associated with situational crime prevention? How are these related to the claim that situational approach may not be able to fully address a community’s crime problem? How may the crime prevention theories that are relevant to the main crime prevention approaches be used to explain why situational crime prevention alone may not be able to fully address a community’s crime problem? To what extent may a combination of approaches be appropriate or feasible?
