State of the World 2010 is dedicated to the theme of transforming cultures from consumerism to sustainability. There is a
chapter titled “The Power of Social Movements” from pages 171 to 190.
Please complete a short paper that has FOUR (4) components:
1. Provide a summary of the individual articles in that chapter. Note: This should be approximately a page and a half in
length.
2. Compare these articles and provide a brief summary (half a page minimum).
3. Note the current situation in the United States, do you observe the points raised in the articles)? elaborate (half a
page minimum).
4. Based on the above provide your overall assessment of how you believe the points raised can be brought into everyday
life in the United States. Note: This should be a minimum of one (1) page.
In addition, you are encouraged to incorporate outside sources of information to further reinforce your observations from
news articles, journals, or web sites.
This paper should be word processed to be Microsoft word compatible in accordance with the Format for Writing Assignments
outlined in the Course Syllabus.
Remember you should have a list of references/ works cited (minimum of FOUR).
APA Format preferred.
