1) The fact that media is more powerful as an education tool than any forms of formal or non-formal education is very interesting because it reinforce the dominant

culture on to the audience/learners who enjoys watching it for pleasure. Especially in the case of unintentional consumers, which I believe these media have greater

influence on their learning. It influences who they are and how they think. By reading and knowing about this fact makes me reflect on myself as a consumer of these

media and media as an influential form of education. The media such as advertisements, dramas, series or even music influence my perception of dominant culture. Such

as in Thailand, there is a campaign calling for Thais people to reunite and love each other. This campaign is created as a response to the current political situation

where Thai people is divided into 2 sides red and yellow. As a result the government decided to use all forms of media to educate all adults to reunite together as one

again. There are songs created especially for this, advertisements posters everywhere as well as in TV dramas and media ignore topics about politics and focus on

creating the love amongst Thai people. The effect is clear, politics is not the major concerns of the people and most of them stopped talking about it. This might be

an extreme example of how using media as a adult education tool helps solve community problem.

Please read “Grace, A. P & Wells, K. (2007). Using Freirean pedagogy of just ire to inform critical social learning in arts-informed community education for sexual

minorities. Adult Education Quarterly, 57(2), 95-114. (Library tab).” And write 100 words reply to below comment.
2) The 2 most interesting things from this article is a quote about the past and the method of communicating to the public about the outer and true inner person of

these sexual minorities. Firstly, is the quote that really grabs my attention, “The study of the past brings to our conscious body’s memory the reason for being of

many present procedures, and it
can help us, through a better understanding of the past, to overcome its marks”. I strongly agree with this quote and the impact it have on all of us. In the case of

sexual minorities history have a lot of influence on how the society treats, perceived, and accept them. Moreover, the experience these sexual minorities have in the

past about how the society treats them influence their thoughts, emotions, and behavior. History can influence their present behavior either to be pressured and react

negatively becoming part of the problem in society or being treated equally and live a normal life. Not just sexual minorities but to all of us, history influence who

we are today, how we perceive and behave to the sexual minorities. History is also part of what formed our culture and today’s society.
Secondly is the Out Is In public art exhibition. Its an really interesting and creative idea to let sexual minorities create art piece using old school’s locker. I

believe this is a really emotional piece of art that allows the society to understand these sexual minorities better as well as allow them to express themselves to the

public.

3) This is an interesting article about how theatre can be used as powerful tool to address community problem. The thing that really interests me about this article is

the fact presented in this article. Its amazing how the audience can relate to and participate in the theatre leading to a better understanding of community problem.

The opening script of the play in the beginning of the article makes me recall watching a Thai theatre which is about a life of 2 girls living in a apartment. The

story is about the community in that apartment, conflicts occurring day-to-day, issues that arises, and the relationship of the people living in that community. As an

audience, this theatre allows me to reflect on myself living in the similar situation as the theatre. When the issue arises, I relate it to the similar issue that

arise in my situation and I evaluate how the character respond to the issues based on how I respond to it and on my opinion on what should be done. Based on the story

performed on the theater such as an issue about a new neighbor moving in but have conflict with the character due to misunderstanding and contrasting perspectives

about privacy and respect as they are from different cultural background. I relate this to my situation, reflect on the character about how they should go about

solving the issue and what are the characters thinking. This allows me to learn from the characters without putting myself in the actual situation and experience the

conflict and stress the characters are experiencing. It allows me to learn to deal with community issues in a safe environment where I can explore various ways to

react and response.
