Assignment:
Write an essay in which you analyze themes in EACH of the assigned readings. You must identify and explain at least TWO themes for each reading.
You must analyze ALL of the readings in your response, and you must include support/explanation from each.
Content and Support:
You should present your analysis in essay form that is appropriate to college-level writing (paragraphs, transitions, an introduction and conclusion, etc.). For help with this, visit the Handouts and Help section of the Blackboard class site.
You must explain your ideas in detail in order to make a clear and complete argument. For this assignment, you’ll also need to include specific examples (quotes) from the reading to support your analysis.
Point of View:
Do not use first person (I, we) or second person (you) in papers for this class. This type of paper (literary analysis) about the readings and should be written in third person only. College-level papers should always be written in third person unless the assignment/professor specifies otherwise.
Research: You should NOT use outside research in completing this assignment. Instead, present your own ideas with support (quotes) from the reading.

Works Cited Page:
You need a Works Cited page (MLA style) for this and all response papers. Information on MLA style can be found in at the Handouts and Help section of the Blackboard class site.
Length:
There is no specific length requirement; however, you need to address ALL parts of the assignment in detail, and you must provide explanation of and support for your ideas throughout the paper.
