4.3-Data Assignment
Here are the assignment details/instructions below. I have also attached the previous airline data assignments that i have already completed in week 1. I am now in week four of class. Now you will just need to choose a different U.S. carrier as mentioned below.
You will need to watch all of the videos in this module before beginning this assignment. The information presented and the examples given will help you complete this activity.
In week 1, you completed an Airline Data Assignment. For this activity, collect the same data for a different U.S. carrier, clean the data, and calculate the following items:
Mean
Median
Mode
Standard Deviation
Variance
Minimum and maximum
For both airlines, (recall you already collected data on one airline in week 1 and an additional airline as part of this assignment), Construct 95 percent confidence intervals (alpha would equal what in this case?) for
monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles (Domestic flights only)
there will be six confidence intervals established.
Develop the appropriate null and alternate hypotheses and test if the monthly load factors,
monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles are equal for the two airlines (use alpha of 0.05). 3 sets of independent t tests.
Test if the mean for each airline is equal to the mean for the industry for monthly load factors, monthly revenue passenger miles, and monthly available seat miles: 6 sets of single sample t tests.
After completing the above items, prepare a brief (probably be three to four pages) write-up of the analysis completed above. Items to include in your write-up include How a given airline is performing relative to industry and Whether the results are consistent with expectations..
Cite sources and format your document in accordance with the current edition of the APA Manual..
Be sure to include summary tables of summary statistics and a table summarizing the test results. Refer to the readings from Module 1 and the APA manual for formatting issues. Turn in two files for this assignment. One should include the write-up and the other the data and analysis.
