IntroductionMethod of Research and study: This paper will research the life of Apostle Peter using scholarly primary, secondary sources, as well as the bible to explore the life of Peter. The paper will evaluate his weaknesses as well as his strengths and present a well-rounded biography of the apostle who had the privilege to be counted among Jesus? inner circle. The Apostle Peter was one of the few men that Jesus chose to be a part of his inner circle and closest companions. From the on-set Jesus saw something different in Peter and thus spoke into his life. Peter, at the time had no understanding or clue what Jesus was saying or predicting upon him, he only knew that this man was interesting and telling him things that had never been told to him before. The rumors that were spreading about this stranger could possible mean that he was the one, Messiah, whom they had been waiting for that would bring an end to the terror they were facing under the hands of their persecutors. Changing his name was just the beginning in the process of Peter fulfilling the prophecy spoken upon his life by Jesus.Thesis Statement: Therefore, if Peter had not been introduced to Jesus he would have remained a weak, unstable reed instead of becoming the strong and stable rock enabled by the Holy Spirit to withstand the hounds of hell who were trying to sift him as wheat.II. Apostle Peter?s life before He Met ChristA. Life as a fisherman, husband, son, and brother.1. 7 steps that led to his fall (Mt. 26:31-35) Conceit (Mt. 26:33), ease (Mt. 26:40), rashness (Jn. 18:10-11), following afar off (Mt. 26:58), evil associations (Jn. 18:18), open denial (Jn. 18:25), and blasphemy (Mk. 14:70-71).III. Apostle Peter?s Life After He Met Christ.A. Transformation and growth.1. Impulsive (Mt. 14:28; 17:4; Jn. 21:7) yet tenderhearted and affectionate (Mt 26:75; Jn.13:90, full of strange contradictions and presumptions (Mt. 16-22) yet made two great confessions of his faith in Jesus Christ (Mt. 16:16; Jn. 6:69 and the most cowardly denial (Mk. 14:67-71, timid and cowardly (Mt. 14:30; 26:69-72, yet self-sacrificing (Mk. 1:18) and self-seeking (Mt. 19:27).IV. Empowerment by the Holy Spirit.A. Acts 10:34 When Peter opened his mouth, he discovered that God is no respecter of persons and that opportunity to know Christ is universal.1. After Pentecost the Holy Spirit empowered Peter giving him wisdom to instruct (Ac. 2:14), Enduring him with boldness and courage (Ac. 4:18-20), making him a channel of blessing to the sick (Ac. 5:15), Made him effective in raising the dead (Tabitha) (Ac. 9:45). Qualified him to become a medium of the spirit to the Gentiles (Ac. 10:44) thus becoming the rock the prophecy of Christ (Jn. 1:42; Mt. 16:18; Ac. 1:8) and was courageous and unmovable until the end (Ac. 4:39, 20; 5:28, 29, 40, 42).V. Conclusion.Peter?s initial meeting and relationship with Jesus not only had life-changing ramifications for him but also everyone with whom he came into contact with afterwards. Peter?s growth and learning under the leadership of the Messiah ultimately helped him become the man of God Jesus told him he would be. Peter?s empowerment by the Holy Spirit made him into a rock and one of the greatest champions for the Kingdom of God and the Early Church. More to come?Working BibliographyBrown, John.
