1. Be sure to provide the artist’s name, date, and title for each work of art you are discussing.
2. Be sure to describe the work in detail. I am relying on your description to determine if you are using the terms correctly. Support each statement or term with a brief description.
3. Use as many terms as possible! Also make sure to use at least one of the three critical theories from Chapter 5 in your evalutation.
4. Avoid listing terms. (ex. “I see lines, goemetric shapes, and warm colors.”) This doesn’t allow you to support these terms in order to show that you understand their definitions. Always describe each element in detail.
5. Don’t spend time describing the artist’s life story. (ex. what school they went to or where they grew up) This will not allow you to use the terms. Focus on the art work.
6. Avoid excessive spacing. The first line of the paper should be your name. The next line of the paper should be the content of your paper. I don’t need intoductory or closing paragraphs. Dive right into the point of your paper. I want one FULL page of writing.
7. Doulbe spacing and 12 pt font is the minimum requirement. If you are using double spacing with 12 pt font then that page should be FULL of terms. If you are using a smaller font or using single space you are still expected to turn in at least one FULL page of writing.
