The use and advancement of technology continue to increase on a daily basis in our society; therefore, the criminal justice system must be constantly aware of this for the purpose of utilizing various types of technology to fight crime. Most people experience and benefit from many technological innovations in their personal lives, from using GPS while driving their cars to using tablets and smartphones instead of computers and landlines. Law enforcement officers benefit from the same technological advances, as you will read this week. Officers rely on the same devices you use, but while you use them for pleasure or convenience, officers take advantage of these technologies to help solve crimes.
