Write an essay (minimum 3-4 pages) outlining President Jackson’s motives and reasoning behind his Indian removal policy, and its impact on the “Five Civilized Tribes.” Include the connections between the War of 1812 against Great Britain and the various Indian wars that were a part of this story. Also, include the problems caused by Tecumseh’s attempts at confederation, and by the Spanish presence in Florida as Americans surged westward and southward. You may also consider the First Seminole War.
