1. ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY:
After researching the scientific evidence related to your topic, write a detailed annotated bibliography. You should have at least 5 academic sources. In your annotation for each source, you should

1) summarize the main points of the work,

2) discuss the usefulness of the work,

3) consider how the work relates to others in its field (and those on your list, if appropriate).

In addition, if relevant you may 1) include how you will incorporate the information in your argument and 2) note any bias or flaws in the information.

Organize your bibliography according to the Name/Year sequencing.

You are a student scientist researching a topic and your final product should demonstrate the precision with which a scientist must conduct his/her work. Documentation must be precise; proofread to eliminate all grammatical and spelling errors as well as typos.

2. ABSTRACT

Scientists submit abstracts of their work in order to publish their work, either as a paper in an academic journal or as a presentation at a conference. A concise abstract will be a tidy outline for your final project. Your abstract must

a) have a title,

b) be no more than 300 words (no exceptions) and

c) include 1) background or purpose, 2) methods, 3) results, and 4) conclusions.

This abstract is the summary of your project, so the background will tell about the purpose of your project, the methods section will detail your process, the results your results (not those of the scientists whose articles you read) and the conclusions should be your ideas about the material you’ve read.
