Argumentative Research Essay
Now that you’ve developed a research question and gathered some research on your chosen topic, it’s time to actually write your argumentative essay. For our final
assignment of the semester, you will create an argument and craft a thesis (or claim) based on your issue, and then prove it using research. While writing, you’ll want to think back to the rhetorical strategies (rhetorical situations and persuasive appeals) we discussed and analyzed. These will help you form a well -researched, and well -thought out argumentative essay.

Directions:
In a minimum of 5 pages, write an argumentative essay that:
● *explores an issue of relevance and interest to you,
● discusses the various perspectives on that issue,
● proves your overall opinion/argument, and
● presents a “call to action” to help address the issue.
*a note about your topic choice
Although you have already been working on a topic throughout the semester, you may choose to adapt or completely change that issue if necessary. You do want to make a final decision sooner rather than later, but if you want to look into a new issue, I’d be happy to discuss it with you.

Research
For this assignment, you will need to locate and read 5-6 credible sources related to your issue. Remember to consider what makes a credible source. Also keep in mind, that since you are presenting the different sides of your issue, your chosen sources should incorporate all of the different perspectives. Use the findings from the -sources to help inform your argument.
