First take-home exam (30%)
There are two questions. Answer one question.
1) Choose two cases from lectures and assigned readings that show the relations between political power and representations. Analyze
how visual, architectural and spatial vocabularies are arranged to define and present power and authority.
2) The classes have studied how to understand cultural influences and appropriations between different regions beyond the false
dichotomy between “origin” and “copy.” Choose two cases from lectures and assigned readings and analyze how the cases show cultural
adoption as processes of reworking and recreation in local conditions.
Your answer should be type-written, single-spaced (save papers!), 1000 words (provide word counts). If it is needed, provide footnotes
(full citations with page numbers). Evaluation will be based on comprehension of class materials/ lectures and writing. Submission in
hard copy is due on March 1 in class. No email, no late submission will be accepted.
