Guidelines for your Review of the ArticlesIt is important for you to learn how to write about another author’s work. That is different from writing down what the author wrote. Your review should not read as though you are the author of the article or material. You are the reviewer of the article, and your paper should read as an evaluative review. When you evaluate something, you are deciding if it is good, bad, worthwhile, valuable, etc., based on some criteria. If you are unsure what an article review should look like, please Google “article reviews” and “evaluating articles” to find examples. Please write your review so that the reader will clearly understand the difference between the author’s contribution and your presentation and interpretation of that contribution. Under no circumstance should you copy material from an article and represent it as your own work. If you need to quote briefly from an article to make a point, be sure to put the quotation in quotation marks, and give the page number of the quote in a parenthetical citation in APA style (author, year, page). During the course, you will write THREE 2- to 3–page article reviews, due during Modules 4, 5, and 6. For EACH of the THREE articles, please follow these requirements:1. Give the citation of the article in APA format at the top of your paper.  2. Double-space the paper with no extra line spaces between paragraphs.3. Provide headings (centered, all caps) for these four sections: a. INTRODUCTIONb. REVIEWc. IMPRESSIONSd. CONCLUSIONS.4. Write an INTRODUCTION that tells the reader that you intend to review a paper or document in your essay. 2a. Tell the reader the reason that you selected the particular paper to review. b. Clearly state how each article relates to the chapter you selected.c. Clearly state the common theme between this article and the other two articles you will be reviewing.d. Many students leave this out, so make sure that you do this to prepare the reader for what is to follow in your paper. 5. Write your REVIEW that shares your interpretation of what the author(s) wrote. Make an effort to cover the following points (may require more than one paragraph): a. State the overall purpose of the paper. What was the main theme of the paper? b. What new ideas or information were communicated in the paper? c. Why was it important to publish these ideas?d. What methods did the author(s) use to reach conclusions? e. If this is an experiment or survey, how were the data collected and analyzed? i. Who were the subjects? ii. What were the basic results or findings from the research? f. If this is an opinion paper, where did the author(s) find his or her opinions? g. If this is a technical paper, how do you know that the material is accurate? 6. Give your IMPRESSIONS of the usefulness of the paper (your opinions). a. In your opinion, what were the strengths and weaknesses of the paper or document? i. Be sure to think about your impressions and the reasons for them.  ii. Listing what the author wrote as limitations is not the same thing as forming your own opinions and justifying them to the reader. b. Were the findings in the article important to a reader? c. Were the conclusions in the article valid? Do you agree with the conclusions? d. If the material was technical, was the technical material innovative? clearly explained?7. Write a CONCLUSION that briefly tells the reader what you wrote about in your essay and your overall findings about the article you reviewed. a. A conclusion provides intellectual closure for the reader. b. Some students leave this out—please don’t leave it out. c. There is some redundancy in a conclusion paragraph, but it still is essential to provide closure in a skillfully written essay. 8. Carefully proofread your work before submitting it. 9.
