The ePortfolio as evidence of professional development

It is a national registration requirement for the Registered Nurse that all Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is documented in an ongoing manner and is available for auditing should this be requested by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia [NMBA] (NMBA 2014).

An e-portfolio is an online collection of information and evidence which demonstrates your learning, competencies and professional development. During the Bachelor of Nursing program students will develop a professional portfolio to demonstrate their competence for nursing practice. Assignment 2 is an item that can be uploaded to your e-portfolio.
Assignment Description

Assignment Task
Your task is to consider how cultural understandings of health may impact upon access to the Australian health care system. In your response make reference to the determinants of health and primary health care principles. Your discussion is to be supported by further reading of and reference to the academic literature.

The assignment is to be presented in essay format and in accordance with the School of Nursing and Midwifery Academic Writing Requirements: https://lo.unisa.edu.au/course/view.php?id=6663

Your essay must include, an introduction to the discussion that considers how cultural understandings of health may impact upon access to the Australian health care system for people and a conclusion summarising what you have learnt.

The Task itself:
The assignment asks that you reflect upon the workshops, core readings from topics 1 – 4, and reference to scholarly literature in order to consider how cultural understandings of health may impact upon access to the Australian health care system.
In your answer you need to make reference to the determinants of health and primary health care principles.

Format:
The essay is of 1000 words in length and must include:
1 an introduction to the essay (100 words)
2 a discussion that considers how cultural understandings of health may impact upon access to the Australian health care system (800 words)
3 a conclusion summarising what you have learnt (100 words)
