Board of Directors to set up a subsidiary company

You have been appointed by your Board of Directors to set up a subsidiary company in another country. You are aware that this presents a wide range of challenges but you are particularly concerned with the cross-cultural management implications in managing what will be a cross-cultural workforce. In particular, you are concerned with the following issues, and feel you need to prepare a criticalevaluation of the implications of:
1.
When it comes to the selection and recruitment of an effective management team, what staffing approach should you take, and what will global HRM’s role be in the process?
In your response you should identify at least three different approaches to staffing international operations and compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages that each brings. You should then justify your selection of one approach that you feel would be best in the above scenarioidentifying the specific conditions that support the use of that approach. You should then evaluate how the company’s global HRM can support you in both making your decision and implementing your approach.
2.
The approaches you should take to: leadership and motivation, communications and negotiating, decision making and organizational relationships.
In responding to this task you should consider each management skill and identify how these are challenged in a cross-cultural environment. You should then focus on how cross-cultural theories can be applied to help overcome these challenges and how these should be applied within your subsidiary.
