Final Paper
Part 1: Issue Analysis (75%; 1500 words max.)
• Conduct an issue analysis consistent with the approach outlined for the mid-term paper.
• You may choose an issue covered in weeks 5 through 8 or alternatively an issue of interest inspired by material

covered in the first or second half of the course.
• If you select a new issue be sure to define the issue as a question and identify why the issue is important;

research and select one or more articles/resources that speak to both YES and NO perspectives; summarize the

positions offered including areas of agreement and disagreement between authors/sources; discuss the strengths and

weaknesses of the arguments presented as you see them; outline and defend your position.
Part 2: Personal Reflection (25%; 1000 words max.)
Reflecting back on the material and topics covered in the course, identify and describe the most important learning

you have gained (be it an insight, idea, concept, observation, etc.). Why is it important to you? To what extent

has it changed or influenced your perspective, and in what ways do you see yourself utilizing that learning in your

work and/or studies moving forward?

# Papers will marker out of twenty points and then turned into an overall percentage score. Consideration was given

to:
• Critical Thinking (extent to which the paper addressed the assignment requirements and demonstrated understanding

and sound critical thinking and analysis of the issue and associated positions/perspectives) (10 pts)
• Communication (extent to which the paper was focused, well-organized, and cohesive, points were clear and
