Task 1
You and five colleagues have just been on a training course and you stayed in a hotel where the service was excellent. The staff were friendly and did everything they could to make your stay enjoyable. The food was of a very high standard as were the bedrooms.
You would like the manager to know that you appreciated all of the efforts made by the hotel staff and that you are very likely to recommend the hotel for future trainees.
Write a letter expressing your thanks for the high level of service, highlighting the aspects which made your stay particularly enjoyable. (250 words)
Task 2
You work for a large multinational company called Silver Manufacturing Ltd which has its headquarters in Coventry. Each year many employees from all over the world visit the headquarters for training or work experience and usually stay for about a year. To help them settle when they first arrive you are required to write a short guide for them regarding English culture and English business etiquette.
You can include anything that you think is relevant but you should address the following points as a minimum:
1. Which countries make up the United Kingdom and what languages are spoken.
2. Typical British leisure interests.
3. How to find somewhere to live.
4. The political system of party politics.
5. Normal business hours and British attitude to timekeeping.
6. How meetings are conducted.
7. Business attire.
8. Suitable business greetings.
