MyBiz is a medium sized organisation that does a lot of online trade. Its web server however is now eight years old, beginning to struggle with the increased load and there are concerns about it coming to the end of its life. One option is for the company to buy a replacement server and run it in-house. There is however the option of using a third party to host and run the service using cloud services.
Task A
Identify three possible servers that have capacity for 8TB of data, 4GB of RAM and 4 cores. This is a business critical machine so appropriate provision should be made for backing up the data and fault tolerance. Compare and contrast the three options using justified metrics and make a recommendation as to which of the three servers should be considered for purchase.
Task B
When considering the use of cloud services to host a web site then an Iaas, PaaS or SaaS solution could be considered. Explain what each of these service models is and identify two relevant examples of each. Cleary explain how the service model could be used by MyBiz to host a web site. Recommend a particular service model for this scenario.
Task C
Compare and contrast the recommended solutions in Task A and B and recommend one of the two solutions.
