Business Management and Economics Course

At university I want to study Business Management and Economics. There is a competitive growing need to maximise efficiency in our economy, especially that from a microeconomic aspect. Because of our human nature we seem to always need more. In a century where there is rapid growth in organisational concepts, our demand for technology and networking information to enhance our living standards is continuously rising, while resources are scarce. This is amongst the many economic problems we face and it is for these challenging reasons that I think the economic and marketable features of Business Management and Economics would be fascinating to study at university. My interest in this subject increased as a result of reading articles on the progress of our world specifically the views of Thomas Malthus and his concerns of population growth exceeding resource growth. In consideration of this I question whether this may create a strain on international economic development, and how the government may impose policies that could immobilise the negative effects on labour, marketing and much of macroeconomics. I have had the pleasure of developing these through my academic spectrum from 6th form and also experienced the more practicality of these principles through practice in ‘The challenge’, the Arts Award as well as various work experience in Blue Inc. and charity events. The Arts Award course involves me researching and constantly developing skills in drawing through research, presenting work, and setting-up workshops for younger students teaching them how to draw portraits through my own five week plan. With many transferable skills such as discipline and time management skills through drawing whilst teaching taught me patience and perseverance. I find this relevant in studying the fundamentals of business strategy and managing enterprise as I can explore my wondering ideas of strategy and begin to apply these abilities at work, specifically to that of entrepreneurship. In the attendance of the challenge programme I had the enjoyment of testing my personal strength through rock climbing, camping and other outdoor activities. Also staying at accommodation in Kent University for 4 nights I played the role of a team leader where I developed my team leadership and working skills, I certainly feel this to be useful for when I begin university as one of my aspirations would be to join or even lead clubs. I’ve had experience in pitching to representatives and organising fashion shows and several events to raise money for our campaign. This showed me that perseverance would help me achieve goals, so since then I’ve attempted this in most things involving leadership. Being able to show my creative skills and sharing them with the group was a great experience for me as I grew more confident in my abilities. As well as being student council and a previous form captain, I often help out during my schools open days and presentations. I also get paid babysitting for my family and neighbours. Taking up a lot of responsibility is something I like to do often as It tends to push me into Student council allows me to improve communicational skills while being form captain I learnt of the ways to understand a group of different abilities, learning how use each other’s strengths to accomplish matters . This is why I feel I would be a strong candidate at university, not only would I love to display my leadership qualities but along with that I could thoroughly understand the economic problems that we face and from that find a place for myself where I am able to benefit our economy through the process of achieving economic objectives. Outside of school I’ve always enjoyed the idea of starting up my own company in the future; and since getting a distinction in Business at GCSE, over the summer I decided to design t-shirts along with two of my friends; this also gives me the chance to externally continue with my passion for art. Separate from this I spent a summer in Dubai helping my uncle who is a fitness instructor for children with disabilities, here I enjoyed interacting with the children at the school especially as I was completely thrown out of my comfort zone, so I think it’s for this reason I often try to jump at given opportunities that perhaps I wouldn’t typically expose myself to. Travelling along with reading is another interest of mine as its inspirational learning the traditions of people different from me.
