This assignment will require you to reflect on the information in Unit 1 (chapters 1-5). You will read the case study identified below and answer the questions that follow. You will be graded on your ability tocompletely answer ALL of the assignment questions, while citing relevant material from class and/or the text within the required length. Be aware that you will be submitting the paper electronically through the MyGateway assignment link.

Read Case 8: The Regency Grand Hotel, (pg. 464 – in the Additional Cases section at the end of your textbook).

Reflecting on the materials we have covered so far, answer the following questions. Your answers should be in paragraph format (essentially an essay answer to each question) but can be numbered by question.
1. Use the MARS model to describe the employees’ behavior after John Becker took over as general manager at the Regency Grand Hotel. Explain which portions of the model (role perceptions, motivation, situational factors, etc.) may have changed and led to the different behavioral outcomes.
2. Would you recommend the implementation of an MBTI personality test in this organization? If no, explain why not and discuss the negative consequences you think might occur. If yes, explain how the test should be used (selection? development?) and provide support for your decision.
3. Explain the role of Cultural Values in the outcomes experienced by John Becker. Explain the difference between the culture and the tactics used by Becker. Be sure to consider at least two of the five cross-cultural values.
4. Discuss how the actions taken by Becker could potentially affect employee job satisfaction, commitment, and stress. What suggestions you would make to Becker to counteract his initial actions and why?
5. How could Becker use goal setting and feedback to maintain his goal of employee empowerment and eliminate the issues that have come up at The Regency Grand? Discuss specific actions he should take, and provide support for why you believe they might work.
6. Choose two of the above points and discuss how they can apply to experiences you’ve had in an organizational setting (work, school, etc.).
