Chinese Values Clash with Globalization
Your Freshman Studies’ lecture aims to help you understand Chinese values. Professor Perry wants you to know what the Chinese think and why they think it. Moreover, she wants you to appreciate how their set of values, or “perceptual screen,” interacts with globalization. This paper will give you the opportunity to analyze a real life interaction between Chinese and Western (i.e. American) business people on the topic of philanthropy.
ASSIGNMENT:
Review the article (see link below). Identify and explain 1-3 Chinese values you see. Then, using this article as a base example, argue whether Chinese values overall favor, or clash, with globalization. Is Chinese culture suitable for globalization? Do you see Chinese values supporting or hindering China’s participation in the globalized world in the future? You may draw on your course materials, but you must also cite the article.
