Circuit Analysis using Network Theorems

Circuit Analysis using Network Theorems

Aims and Objectives
The purpose of this lab is to experience and study the Network Theorems. Examine the given multi-source circuits using simple mathematical techniques such as Superposition, Thevenin’s and Norton’s Theorems. Implement the circuits using Multisim on your PC and then perform simulation to confirm your calculated results. By the end of this lab, you should be able to analyse multi-sources electronic circuits and use the above Network Theorems for solving the simple as well as the complicated circuits. You are required to record all the activities (i.e., observations, results and comments) in your logbook as you carry out the complete task.

Equipment required:
Desktop PC, NI Multisim software, scientific calculator and Logbook

Procedure:

1.    Using superposition, find the current through R1 for each network as given in the following:

You are required to support each step of the calculations by redrawing the circuits and then confirm your results by constructing and simulating the above circuits using Multisim software. Examine all the scenarios while performing the simulation.

2.    Find the Thevenin equivalent circuit for the network external to the resistor R of the following figure:

Using Multisim software construct the above circuit and then confirm the values obtained in the equivalent circuit.
Also, find the current through R when R is 2?, 30? and 100?.
3.    Find the Norton equivalent circuit for the network external to the resistor R in each network of the following figures:

Using Multisim software construct the above circuits and then confirm the values obtained in the equivalent circuits.
