In this task you asked to plan nursing care for Nancy for a 24-hour period shortly after her admission to the ward. Your plan consists of a number of components. You need to:

1. Examine Nancy’s immediate situation and identify the clinical manifestations including signs and symptoms, assessment findings, results of diagnostic tests;

2. Prioritise and identify the five most important and most urgent problems for Nancy at this time;

3. Focus on the physiological problems and explain the underlying pathophysiology;

4. Focus on the psychological, social and/or family issues for Nancy, both potential, and actual, and explain why you think these are occurring and what the contributing factors are);

5. Develop a plan of care for Nancy for the following 24 hours, focusing on:

(a) Nursing care & activities including ongoing assessment;

(b) Education and care of the family;
