communication of the level and process of addiction

question

here on the communication of the level and process of addiction as it can become quite complicated not only for the individual, but also for the family and clinician working with the individual.  An interesting piece here is that while the process of addiction itself may move very gradually there can be some unconscious signs or signals from the individual that give information as to their current state.

This can occur frequently in sessions with clients.   It is something that needs to be looked at when beginning to work others as communication is broken down as follows for human services, and many settings:

55% of communication is facial expressions

38% of communication is voice tone, and

7% of communication is from what we actually say.

Amazing how the words we use have such little impact on communication.

What are your thoughts on these percentages, and how “telling” they may be to assess the level of addiction a client is at? Do they make sense?
