How did the panorama and its related forms transform the experience of the world?

A Note On Presentation/Referencing/Bibliographic Systems

Basic Presentational Requirements:

• Essays will be grammatically written and use correct spelling. Poor grammar and spelling will be penalized.
• Use a normal font and font size.
• Double-spacing for easier reading and marking.
• Proper paragraphing with clear spaces between paragraphs.
• References for every claim and every quotation.
• A bibliography, properly set out and fully detailed, set out alphabetically and chronologically if using more than one text for a source.
• Italics are used for any publication title: newspapers, books, films, etc.
• Italics are NEVER used for quotations.
• Any part of a publication (such as a chapter in a book or article in a newspaper) is placed in single quotation marks, not in italics.
• “Double quotation marks” are not used for quotations. Only use ‘single quotation marks’. The only time you ever use double ones is if a quotation you are using contains another quote within it then that inner quote is placed in double quotation marks.
• Don’t use bold.
• Academic writing style: use an appropriate academic tone. Don’t make any claim unless it is absolutely correct and fully supported. If possible make sure it is referenced. Avoid banal generalizations. Don’t even say ‘water is blue’ without a reference to a science textbook and books on psychology and phenomenology!
• Don’t include bullet points or lists in your essay. Write in full sentences.
• Indent every quotation over 20/25 words. Indent it completely from the left side so it doesn’t look just like another paragraph.
• Every reference will appear in the bibliography
• NEVER put a web address in the essay. Footnote it for Chicago style or for Harvard find an author and date and reference it as (name/year).
