The role of women throughout Classical civilization varied as greatly as it does in
the world today. In some places, women were viewed barely above livestock,
while in others they were almost revered at their ability to continue valued
civilizations.
Read Chapters 9-10 of the textbook by Adler & Pouwels
Complete Map 5a and 5b on pages 20-21 by Kosso
Write a 2-3 page paper explaining the role of women in Athens, Sparta,
and Rome. What rights, if any, did women have in each of these assigned
locations? How were they viewed by society? How does this compare to
what New Testament Scripture says about women? What evidence is there
to support your claims? Ensure the following points are addressed.
