Compare/contrast the two news anchors you have chosen in terms of strength, credibility and warmth. Multiple viewings of performances will be required in order to draw valid distinctions.

After you chose your group of anchors, you will answer the questions bellow in your essay:

1) Do you have confidence that he/she knows what he/she is talking about? Substantiate your conclusions with examples.
2) Does the person you are analyzing have a strong presence? Describe. Does he/she display confidence? How is that demonstrated? How does that affect your perception?
3) Do you believe the person you are analyzing is speaking directly to you? This is called “reaching through the lens.” How does this person achieve this or fail to achieve this? How does that affect your perception of the performer? How does this affect “likeability?”
4) Does the person articulate clearly or not? Are you able to comprehend what is being said or not? How does this affect your perception of the television performance?
5) Do you find that the person you are analyzing displays warmth? How is that displayed? Or not displayed? Provide examples. What does that add – or take away from – the on camera performance?
6) Describe how the person uses the following non-verbal techniques in television performance:
. Pause
• Head movement
• Hand gesture
7) How does that affect your perception of the performance?
8) What did you learn from observing these on air performers that you can adapt to your own on air performance?
