Comparing Abraham Religions Paper
THE ASSIGNMENT
Write a 5-6 page research paper examining some beliefs, and practices that the three religions of Abraham hold in common. You
paper will also include a discussion of three major sources of conflict between them.
Part 1of your paper will include a comparison of two (2) doctrines or beliefs that each religion holds in common with the
other, for example: God, Judgment, death or the afterlife. You will also compare two 2 rituals or sacred practices celebrated
in each religion, for example: Sabbath, Holy Days or Festivals. Some questions you may want to address are: How are they
alike? Different? What role, if any, did history play in their believes and practices? You are not limited to these
questions. You may want to formulate your own. The purpose of the Part ! of the paper is reflect on the similarities between
the three religions.
Part 2 of your paper will focus on the development of and the continuing conflict between the three religions. To do this you
will identify and discuss three major sources of conflict between them. For example, how does land become a source of
conflict? What particular beliefs or doctrines have heightened their division? How does scripture play a role in their
conflict?
Part 3 – Reflecting on their commonality and on the sources of conflict, discuss some possibilities for for resolving these
differences and/or getting along together in the world. Looking around the world, and in their respective histories, there is
evidence that these three communities of faith have managed to coexist in peace and goodwill at various times and in various
places. What has made this possible? How could it be a factor in creating peaceful relations between them during the 21st
century?
