Comparison

Comparison of the differences with Management Style, Events holding, and facilities among three places (Jinan Olympic Sports Centre,

Singapore National Stadium and London Olympic Park)

One of my father’s friends is the charger of a project about Jinan Olympic Sports Center, especially focus on change the way of management,

enhance the demand of sports venues, promote brand awareness and to be globalization. Jinan Olympic Sports Center is quite a huge stadium located

in my home town, it occupied 350,000 square metres, and has six areas. First is a premier sports venue which has 60,000 seats. Second is secondary

stadium which has 10,000 seats and also including training courts and 20 outdoor basketball courts. The third is a tennis stadium which includes

4000 seats and 14 tennis courts. Fourth is 4000 seats swimming stadium. Fifth is an audience platform which occupied 60,000 square metres. Sixth

is the streets, plants, and some human-made landscape.

The management of Jinan Olympic Sports Centre will change to capital raising, so the friend of my father made a project before, and want to make

the centre to be economic. So he held some events such as communicated with an American golf team and held a friendly match and invite some

popular singers to hold concerts and ceremonies.

Aims:
1. What is stadium and the relationship between Stadium and human life.
2. The trend of globalization about Stadium
3. What is demand, and the trend of globalization about demand for sports industries.
4. The relationship between Stadium and demand and what effect the demand for sport Stadium

Research method: interview, questionnaire and literature review (can be change)

This is the original feedbackfrom my tutor:

The idea is a good one and you can certainly do a project around the demand for sports venues and how best to make use of these facilities. A lot

of the literature around this focuses on the legacy of sports events (I notice that the centre you refer to hosted the 11th National Games of the

People’s Republic of China in 2009) and what happens to the stadiums after they are used for major games.

It is worth doing some research into the Singapore National Stadium as they are doing some great work there in terms of how best to utilise their

facilities. If you were to look at the UK then it would probably be best to compare with the London Olympic Park and stadium to see what is

happening there.

A project like this that compares three venues that are similar is certainly doable. You need to have a look at the literature surrounding sports

Stadium and events and legacy first to get a better understanding of this. Some of the teaching materials from the events module will help you

too.
