Overview: Theoretical Framework Paper
The purpose of this paper is for you individually to create a theoretical framework for their practice (clinical/administrative/education). You will begin with the same concept that was selected for your first paper. You will then search the literature and identify a theory that utilizes your concept of interest to provide the basis for a theoretical framework for your own practice. The literature review for this section will include both an original/published source of the theory as well as examples from the literature of how others have utilized the theory (clinical/administrative/education). This paper should also include other concepts that are relevant to your future practice. Examples may include: ethical values (beneficence, autonomy, justice, veracity) or other concepts that build relationships in the theoretical framework. These other concepts may be selected from philosophies or theories relevant to nursing (caring, health promotion, expertise, etc). A scholarly source must be identified for each concept used in the theoretical framework paper (not a dictionary!). You will then explain the concepts and describe relationships among them in both a narrative form and summarized in a schematic model representation (Figure). This is to be your OWN work and not a model that you find in the literature. All relevant concepts described in your paper need to be presented in the schematic drawing that illustrates the relationships between them.
The final Personal Framework paper, including cover sheet and reference list, should be no more than 10 pages. The paper must be written in proper APA format.
This assignment is worth 100 points, or 28.6% of your final grade.
Components of the Paper
Include the following sections; use the section titles as headings with the exception of the introduction. Title Page: Use APA 6th edition for the title page.
Introduction: Give an overview of your paper.
• Briefly describe the paper including the theory you are using.
• Which practice area are you applying this theory?
• Give an overview of your paper.
Literature Review: Find a theory that utilizes your selected concept in your future area of practice. This may be from nursing or another discipline. Be sure that this is a published THEORY and not a model. Review the literature on this theory with specific emphasis on authors of manuscripts/books that describe and have researched and/or theorized on your concept. Review the most pertinent literature to your particular concept. Minimum 5 theory sources.

Summarize: From the review of literature, summarize the key findings related to your concept, focusing on the most relevant/essential to your concept. Pick the one application of theory that best fits with y our concept and your future practice.

Model: How are all of the concepts you identified related to each other in your theoretical framework ?
• Provide a unique personal schematic model (using APA format ) of all the concepts and the relationships among them.
• Delineate and discuss relationships between all concepts.
• Describe the meaning of the placement and shapes of the symbols and their significance of everything you use in this figure in your paper.
• Include a key with the figure showing all symbols, colors, arrows etc.
• Refer to the model in your narrative (see Figure 1) before introducing the Figure.
NOTE: You will also post your framework model to the Discussion board by end of day Sunday of week 4.
Conclusions: Summarize the major points in your paper. Describe how you see yourself using this theoretical framework related to research or future advanced practice (clinical/administrative/education). Be specific.
References: References cited; APA throughout the paper linking theories and professional literature to the discussion. A minimum of 7 references is expected.
