Concept Synthesis Paper on Personal Nursing Philosophy

Concept Synthesis Paper on Personal nursing Philosophy

Overview

You are required to submit a scholarly paper in which you will identify, describe, research, and apply the concepts that underlie your personal philosophy for professional nursing practice.

This will help you identify your own values and beliefs about the established metaparadigms and metatheories of the discipline. It will also help you identify and articulate concepts relevant to your specific practice. This paper is intended to be an exercise in clarification and organization of your professional foundation. You are also required to provide a list of assumptions from personal nursing practice that illustrate the concepts and framework of your theory.

Your paper should follow a format that includes:

• Nursing Autobiography: A brief (1 page) discussion of your background in nursing.

HERE IS MY 1 PAGE NURSING AUTOBIOGRAPHY

((My nursing carrier began thirty-two years ago in Teaneck New Jersey. Accepted straight from high school to a diploma program after walking away from a full scholarship to play football at Lafayette University, is still today, one of the best decisions I have made. Male nurses were few and society did not look favorable on us, however nursing and nurses being the caring individual they are, took me under their wings, protected me, and educated me. This event began sculpturing the man I am today.

Due to the shortage of nurses in the ‘80s, as a graduate nurse I was offered a position in the intensive care unit. What an experience that was, a twenty-one-year-old playing stickball in the morning and performing peritoneal dialysis in the evening. After working for a year in the intensive care unit I went on to experience the recovery room, now known as post anesthesia care, emergency room trauma and later triage nursing. Triage gave me the autonomy which I thirst.

In 1988, after completing my Bachelors of Nursing I entered Podiatry school where I believe that my strong clinical knowledge earned during my nursing carrier allowed me to graduate with honors and enabled me to be accepted to one of the most prestigious residency program in foot and ankle trauma.

In 1995, as director of a residency program in Miami Florida many physician assistants and nurse practitioners rotated through my service at which time I observed their bedside manners. The care offered by the nurse practitioners was superior to that of the physician assistant and residents.

The team I have led for the past fifteen years includes three nurse practitioners, two physical therapists, an infectious disease doctor and a nutritionist. My team is amazing however, the nurse practitioners are the most intelligent and gifted clinicians I have had the honor of working with. Their passion was instrumental in my decision to pursue an advanced degree in nursing. I felt the need to return to where I started from. I envision educating the future of our highly knowledgeable yet noble practitioners in the twenty-first century.)
