“Research Project

Building on this basic framework, the student is expected to do research on discrimination in employment or on a topic approved by Mr. Coates.

The research project will involve bibliographical search, identification of five cases (Boards of Inquiry, Arbitration and Court Decisions) or five journal articles (at least 10 pages each) and analysis depending upon the topic. Students will select a topic on or before October 8 and submit a list of cases/articles to Mr. Coates.”

Please pay specific attention to this language from the syllabus: “identification of five cases (Boards of Inquiry, Arbitration and Court Decisions) or five journal articles (at least 10 pages each)”. You must use either cases or journal articles, and some topics are limited to articles only as per the syllabus.

As an example, an article from the Harvard Business Review would be acceptable to use (provided you meet the total page requirement). An informational page, such as the OHRC guidelines on the Duty to Accommodate (http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/policy-and-guidelines-disability-and-duty-accommodate) would not be acceptable. It is neither a case nor a journal article.
This assignment page is for you to submit your cases or journal articles. In order to do so, you are required to do the following:

1. Create a basic title page including the title of your topic (as selected on the discussion board), your name, and your Student ID

2. Create a 1-page document listing the references of all of your sources in APA format.

3. Create a PDF file containing the title page, list of references, and the actual articles themselves. This can be done using PDF creation software such as Adobe Acrobat, PDF reDirect (free at http://www.exp-systems.com), or you can print all of the documents and scan them as one file.

4. Submit the attached PDF file on this page.

No file format other than PDF will be accepted. The attached file (Sample.pdf) shows an example of how the file should look. The sample only uses 2 references, but as a reminder, you need a minimum of 5 articles and a minimum of 50 pages total.

If you run into difficulties and need to make alternate arrangements (e.g. if you want to give me print copies of your materials in class on October 8), it is your responsibility to contact me before that day to make those arrangements.
