Death Fugue by Paul Celan

1. Title page (all title and identification information on title page, not first page of text)
2. Table of Contents (= Outline with about three main points; on a separate page)
3. The actual text of your paper
a. length: 7 pages
b. use main points of your outline as headings throughout the text (write several paragraphs for each main point)
c. quote from your chosen literary text as well as from secondary literature (you must use KC databases) to illustrate and support your interpretation
d. focus on your own interpretation: clearly identify what is your idea and what is somebody else’s idea (whether you quote, paraphrase, or summarize); skip biographical information unless you directly apply it to the literary text.
e. make sure the text is your own, that is, do not use too many direct quotes and if you quote, make sure the quote flows with your style; select only “good” quotes and paraphrase or summarize all other information in your own words (but always identify the source of the information).
f. use MLA style of formatting, quoting, and in-text citation (identify page numbers and, where appropriate, line numbers and line breaks); follow additional style sheet for your introduction paragraph.
4. Sources
a. Works Cited List (MLA style; on a separate page): 7 sources minimum.
b. Attach a copy of every page that contains a quote that you use in your paper (unless it is the text in our anthology). Identify each copy clearly by identifying the author’s name, title, and page number. Highlight the passage you quote and write the page number in your paper next to it (“my page #”).

Instructions for Creating a PowerPoint Presentation
Your presentation should contain at least 7 slides:
one title slide (with your name, our class, etc.)
one slide for introductory remarks
at least one slide for each main point (if you have three main points, this would mean that you have three slides unless you have information for more slides for a main point, such as additional visuals—consider using several PPT slides for each main point.)
one slide for conclusion/wrap-up
one final slide for the works cited for all borrowed information.
Your oral presentation (with the PowerPoint slides) should be about 10 (ten) minutes long but not shorter than 7 (seven) minutes.
