Description/Focus: Engagement Process (Interview) Essay

Length: 1,500 Word Essay
Task: Write an essay (in 3rd person context) that:
• Describes the process of engagement / interaction which includes the various stages of the interaction process
• Integrate the communication skills with the process at each stage
• Identify factors that impact on the interaction
• Discuss how potential blocks/problems to communication might be addressed during the interaction.
Preparation:
Presentation: The essay must be typed on a word processor.
Assessment
Criteria:
The essay will be assessed based on the following criteria:
• Demonstrated understanding of the interaction process
• Demonstrated understanding of the integration of skills within the interaction process
• Identification and discussion of potential problems in communication
• Identification of appropriate strategies to address potential problems
• Evidence of wide reading
• Adherence to academic conventions of essay writing (e.g. referencing;
Writing style- APA or Harvard is sufficient).
• Cite at least ten academic references
